Twitter is a great platform to start a discussion with your friends or strangers. Users can share their opinions about everything under 280 characters per comment/post.

Twitter discussions compared to blackboard discussion:-
I believe, twitter is way better platform than blackboard to discuss various topics. It is very easy to reply to anyone using @ symbol. Also, twitter sends you notification when someone you follow posts a tweet or comments on your post. It is time consuming to log in to blackboard and open the discussion tab of our class. The user interface by twitter is better than blackboard. You can easily look for a tweet or a comment using the # symbol. There is no way to look for a particular comment that you are looking for other than going through all the comments on blackboard discussion. hence, twitter is better than blackboard for discussions.

Twitter discussions compared to in-class discussions:-
This can depend on personal preference. If a student is afraid of public speaking, twitter might be a better option for that individual compared to in-class discussion. In class discussion can be quick and effective. A student might be more comfortable sharing their views on twitter compared to in class. Twitter Is an easy way to keep track of who's participating compared to in-class participation. In my opinion, twitter is a better platform than in-class for discussions.

    Hi Rahul, i agree that Twitter is better in most ways than Blackboard discussions. The user interface is definitely more user-friendly. I dont know if Blackboard has an app but i do know the twitter app runs smooth. Locating certain comments are easier using the # symbol which is why i'd prefer twitter over Blackboard discussions.

Advice

There are many ways Baruch can use new media to improve the college. It can use the different social media platform to give students a voice. Baruch can use features like poles to get votes from students opinions on whats best for the college. The college should promote all of its events on the social media platforms. It can also use video conferencing applications to conduct meetings and seminars. This way, the students who are not able to commute very often could benefit from it. Baruch should stay up to date with current generation and generate content that can be relevant for the students on campus. It should have its own snap chat account where students can tag the school so the page can re-post fun and entertaining stuff students are doing on campus. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic, the school has to adapt and utilize all the media platform as much as possible.
