.The social networking websites are useful to corporate businesses in many ways. It helps the business to be connected with their customers and keeps employees in touch with each others as well. It helps to send out information to their followers in timely manner. The company can advertise their promotions using these social media platforms resulting in increased revenues. Companies can use websites such as Linkedin to find potential new employees. On individual level, the social networking tools are mostly used to share media and texts. Millennials and Gen Z are mostly using these platforms to get the latest news.   

 Few ways these technologies has helped the society is to increase donation funds in disasters such as Amazon fires, Fires in Australia, Rebuilding Cathedral in Paris and many more. Due to Social Networking, people are more updated with world new than ever. There is a dark side to this as well. Due to social networking, people are becoming lonelier. It has caused a rise in mental health issue within teens and adults. There have been few shooting that has streamed live on facebook, leaving people devastated. The dark web has been a cause of concern due to its contribution in crimes such as kidnapping, murder, and money laundering.

 These technologies are improving everyday. I believe that virtual reality will play a crucial role in shaping these technologies for the future. People will be able to hangout with each other without leaving the house. It will be revolutionary but concerning how it will shape our mind and habits.

There are many ways Baruch can use new media to improve the college. It can use the different social media platform to give students a voice. Baruch can use features like poles to get votes from students opinions on whats best for the college. The college should promote all of its events on the social media platforms. It can also use video conferencing applications to conduct meetings and seminars. This way, the students who are not able to commute very often could benefit from it. Baruch should stay up to date with current generation and generate content that can be relevant for the students on campus. It should have its own snap chat account where students can tag the school so the page can re-post fun and entertaining stuff students are doing on campus. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic, the school has to adapt and utilize all the media platform as much as possible.
